  • We Are Doing Well

Hello to y'all.  Well I know its been a LONG LONG time since y'all heard from us.  We are all home in Mississippi.  Praise the Lord for that!  We arrived at University Medical Center on Oct. 13.  Virgil was there until the 16th.  Then he came home.  We've been busy busy since.  But so happy to be a family again.  We have had lots of help, for which we are so thankful.  The first couple weeks church folks brought meals and came and helped by the day too.  Now my aunt is here to stay and help us.  We bought a camper so that she and we could have our own space and privacy.  She will stay as long as I need her.  I don't think I ever will be ready to give her up.  Well,  I really got to run along.  Here's a few pictures of our treasures!  Thanks again for all your prayers during the hospital stay.  I really felt them!!

P.S.  The church down here had a twins shower for us.  Maybe another day I can post a few pictures from that.

  • Finally updating!!

Hello to y'all.  I got a few minutes here and it's on my mind that I should at least drop a few lines to y'all to let you know how it is going.  Well, we, Morgan and I are still here at the McDonald House for nights and Virgil is still at the hospital and we spend time with him daily.  (except for the past weekend when I got sick with fever and sore throat and stuffy nose) But prior to that I had a wonderful week!!   Daryl and Cody did come up to visit me!!!!!!!!!   Last week they were with me from Tuesday afternoon till Saturday supper.  It was wonderful but went by way to fast!  They really surprised me as I thought they were only coming up Friday.  Daryl drove it straight through both ways!  Bless his heart!!!  and with a 3 year old at that!!  He said it went fairly well although Cody did do a bit more fussing on the way home at first, but as they neared home was so excited to be getting home.  When Cody was up here his idea was that Daddy,  Mommy, Cody, Virgil and Morgan all go HOME!!  That of course is what we all want but I explained to him we had to wait a little longer cause Virgil is at the hospital.   Anyway as far as that goes Virgil is doing great and expected transport is on Monday next week!  Now nothing is final yet and things could change!  But please pray with me that Lord Willing we can go home then.  Although I have to share with y'all something my dad shared with me that has really helped me keep things in perspective.  He said, "Denise, I know y'all want to go home and we think that would be best for you too.  But look at all the lives you are touching all the seeds of truth and words you can and are speaking for Christ.  Maybe God has someone else He needs you to reach for Him."  When you look at it all in light of eternity it really doesn't seem so hard to say Lord Willing!!   But humanly speaking to be away from home for almost 3 months is tough!!  Well,  maybe another day I can post a picture of the twins.  They are now 7 weeks old.  But for now I must get off of here and get on over to the hospital.  I'm expecting some visitors.  I still have some cold symptoms so will wear a mask while in the unit and at Virgil's bedside.  God bless y'all.  Thanks for all your prayers and keep on praying!!

P.S.  I see that for you xanga folks the last time I posted was after Virgil's g-tube surgery.   He did have to have 1 more surgery for a kinked intestine which is why we are still at the hospital.  However he is doing welll now and gaining weight.

  • G tube Surgery went well

Virgil is doing extremely well since the surgery to put in a G-tube and tighten the stomach somewhat to help alleviate the horrible reflux.  His esophogus and all around it was so red and enflamed from the reflux.  By now the swelling should be down considerably.  It does seem to be because he is breathing well.  He was able to come right off the breathing machine within a half hour after surgery.  Also by 8 P.M. last evening he was off oxygen.  Today he started his first feedings through the G-Tube.  So it keeps looking more and more promising to be home by the end of next week, Lord Willing.  Virgil will most likely have to spend several days at Jackson for monitoring.  So he will likely be flown from CHOP to Jackson to the Hospital.  Not sure yet about all our traveling plans.  I've been so much enjoying having Cody here with me.  My cousin brought him and stayed to help watch him.  Now tonight she headed home and I have Cody and Morgan here with me.  Its working out well, and Dad and mom are coming to visit early afternoon.

  • A quick update

Virgil didn't go in for surgery today.  It didn't work into their schedule.  He is now scheduled for tomorrow 11:00 A.M.  He is doing well, and recognizes my voices when I come in to see him.  Also he just loves to be held and whimpers when I lay him back down in his bed.  Most days I hold him for several hours in between pumping milk for him and nursing and taking care of Morgan.  Virgil is now off oxygen.  Which is a very good thing!  Thanks again for all your prayers.  We can feel them and don't know what we would ever do without the Lord and all our Christian friends.  God bless y'all.

And for a little update.  Virgil does have reflux and will need the g tube put in for feedings.  This is a tube that is put directly into his stomach and through which I will feed him until his reflux clears up.  Surgery is planned for Thursday this week.  Then if all goes as expected and Virgil is handling the full amount of feedings he should be, and if there are no other complications, they will be looking at flying Virgil back to Jackson, MS.later next week.  Not sure yet of all the traveling details and wether I will travel with or not.  But home is defintely on my mind!  I can hardly wait to get home.  I left home July 16!!

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments and all the prayers!!  We couldn't do it all without you.  God bless you richly!                                                                                                              Lovingly,  Denise
